Strawberry jam

I was at the store today to get some more medicine for Dylan (see Easter post) when I discovered that they were having a good sale on a flat of strawberries. Basically 8 pounds of strawberries for $8. Having just run out of my last good homemade strawberry jam (I say good because I do have a container left from a batch that didn't turn out very well), I couldn't pass up the chance to get some to make more. Unfortunately, I'm going to need to run back to the store because I didn't get enough containers or pectin for the jam. I still have 3 1/2 pounds of strawberries to make into jam. A little less and I would consider just eating them. But the jam is so good. I'm already craving toast with jam....

That sounds like a lot of fun to make homemade jam. Did any of the kids get to help you?

No, they didn't ask to help until I was at the end and there wasn't really anything they could do to help. But most of them will help eating it, I'm sure. (Except for Molly. She says she doesn't like strawberries unless it's strawberry milk.)

Yum. I want to learn how to bottle and can this summer. I recently purchased something small from etsy I was there 200th sale, so they gave me a free homemade jar of jam from MT. It was rather good, a mix of things: Peach, raspberry, strawberry, and something else. Is your jam a freezer jam?
